April 5, 2016
Dear Members of the Notre Dame Schools Community,
As you know, Sister Jacquelyn Gusdane, SND has announced that, effective June 30, 2017, she will retire as President of Notre Dame Schools. The Notre Dame Schools Board of Directors realizes that in order to continue the outstanding work that Sr. Jacquelyn has accomplished, we will need to search for an exceptional individual who is deeply committed to the mission of the schools rooted in the educational vision and principles of the Sisters of Notre Dame.
The NDS Board of Directors has begun the important work to identify Sr. Jacquelyn’s successor by establishing a President Search Committee composed of the following five members:
· Lynne Ernes: Chair, NDS Board of Directors and Chair, Search Committee
· Sister Mary Frances Taymans, SND: Director, SND National Education Office
· Dan Garey: NDS Board Director
· Frank Cappello: NDS Board Director
· Joseph Williams: NDS Board Director
This committee has already begun their important work by engaging Educational Directions Inc. from Portsmouth, Rhode Island, an executive search consulting firm. EDI is highly respected firm that specializes in Catholic independent education. For more information about our consultants, we invite you to visit the Educational Directions, Inc. website.
A President search is the most important duty of any Board, and we value the insights of all stakeholders in the Notre Dame Schools community to guide us in this effort. Our goal is to have an open and collaborative process with the highest degree of professionalism. We sincerely welcome your input into this process, and ask that you take the time to complete an online survey, no later than April 25th. Additionally you will find details of the search process and transition plan on the NDCL and NDES websites. Our timeline calls for the identification and engagement of the next President of Notre Dame Schools to be complete in the late Fall of 2016. There will then be an organized transition process culminating with the new President commencing work on or about July 1, 2017.
We are thankful that, under Sister Jacquelyn’s leadership, Notre Dame Schools begins this transition plan from a position of strength. The next year will be a joyful one, as we celebrate Sister Jacquelyn’s many contributions while preparing for her successor. Thank you in advance for your support and engagement in this critical process, and we will continue to provide you with regular updates of our progress.
Lynne M. Ernes
Notre Dame Schools Board Chair
