Service Opportunities
* Rally to End Capital Punishment in Ohio – Rally at the Statehouse
On April 21 students from all over Ohio will come together in Columbus to share their voice in opposition to Capital Punishment. The bus will leave NDCL at the beginning of the school day and return by 5pm. Only the hours after 2:40 count toward service hours. $20 per students. Pre-arranged absence required. Sign up in the REC by Tuesday, April 8th.
* Displace Me Day – sleep outside solidarity with children in Uganda & Sudan
The night of May 2nd, NDCL will host a Displace Me Day: young people sleeping outside in solidarity with displaced children in Uganda and Sudan. The event begins at 6pm and ends at 9am May 3rd. Actions towards awareness, solidarity and advocacy will bring all of us to a better understanding of displace and refugee people all over our world. Sign up in the REC.
* Fair Trade Fashion Show at World Fair Trade Day
NDCL will again co-sponsor World Fair Trade Day with the Fashion Show on May 10th at the Independence Civic Center. Models are needed – there is limited space so sign up in the REC today! Other volunteers with vendors, set up and take time. Also sign up in the REC. See Mr. Savastano or Ms. Linehan if you have questions.
* Fieldstone Farm Therapeutic Riding Center – assist with therapy horses
Fieldstone Farm TRC offers horse-related programming to people with disabilities. Volunteers are needed to assist with grooming and saddling therapy horses, working with students in the ring and classroom and many other capacities. Afternoon and Saturday volunteers are most needed but scheduling is flexible and no experience is necessary. All training is provided! For more information call 440-708-0013.
* University Hospitals, Geauga Medical Center – help in the hospital
How can you help in Geauga Medical Center? Here are a few needs: mail delivery, gift shop, information desk, activities dept., reading and visiting patients. Call Loretta Sparks at 440-285-6271 to volunteer.
* St. Gabriel Parish – help with Junior High Summer Camp
Attention St. Gabe’s 10th, 11th and 12th graders: St. Gabe’s is looking for counselors for the Junior High Summer Camp which will be held June 16-20. See Ms. Walsh-Moorman for more details.
