Service/Requirements
SERVICE
Service to our community is central to understanding our
role as parts of the Body of Christ. NDCL students are required
to complete ten hours of service each semester. Students
are strongly encouraged (and required their Junior Year)
to spend their hours in social justice oriented organizations
in order to better understand the complexities of systemic
needs in our community.
At Christmas time we have a giving tree which gives families
an opportunity to buy a gift for a needy child. In addition,
we take a large representative of students to two inner
city schools at Christmas time to share Christmas joy with
Santa, elves and gifts. Once a month throughout the year
students work together after school to prepare bag lunches
for a local homeless shelter. In addition to the two food
drives during the year, various other collections such as
blankets, diapers and coats are held when needed.
Student Service - Requirements
Requirements: Each grade level is required to perform
a specific amount of hours as listed below. Students may

babysitting or moving are also excluded. Students are strongly
encouraged to participate in projects sponsored by churches,
schools, communities and social service agencies. NDCL promotes
many of these opportunities through school announcements,
the REC and in the religion classes.
