TAKING SHAPE: The walls of our new gymnasium are rising in the sky as construction crews continue their work. |

WHICH
WAY TO THE STAGE? Crews have been busy demolishing the former stage and
preparing the space for construction of our new Performing Arts Center.

Did you know that a significant portion of the masonry work has been completed on the new gym? NDCL Alum Joe Lallo ’98
of Lallo Masonry & Concrete, LLC, and his crew are heading up this
aspect of the project under the direction of Lawler Construction. The
bearing walls are about 16 feet in height. Steel is scheduled for
installation during the week of September 17.
The next time you visit our
campus, talk a walk down the west driveway near the girls softball
diamond. You will be amazed at the progress on the new facility.
Our students are even more
aware of the action in the former Aux Gym. Sounds of demolition are
heard everywhere, especially in the chapel hallway and the ramp leading
to McGarry Gym. The former stage and back stage areas no longer exist.
New wall framing will begin next week.
For safety
reasons, this area is not accessible to students or parents. The
contractors, who have worked on many school projects in the past, have
instituted carefully designed safety precautions.
While summer was dry, the recent rains have caused
some delays in the final touches on the new track and field. Before the
next home game, all paving will be completed. Initial seeding has taken
place. Now it's up to Mother Nature to do her part. Additional fencing
will also be installed before the next home game.
At the
entrance to Lion Stadium, you will notice new signage made and installed
by MC Sign. The signs are yet another way for us to express our
gratitude to the major donors of the Lion Stadium Initiative.
