Juniors post record-setting ACT scores
In the first-ever statewide administration of the ACT for all juniors this spring, NDCL's Class of 2018 posted scores that broke and tied all-time school records.
Analysis of the score report reveals that the juniors set a new all-time school record in Mathematics, tied the all-time school record in Science, and came within a whisker of school records in English and Reading.

"Considering that this was their very first attempt at the ACT, we are extremely happy with the juniors' performance," said Assistant Principal Mrs. Denice Teeples.

Mrs. Teeples pointed to a number of factors that contributed to the juniors' achievement and the overall rising trend of all NDCL ACT scores in recent years:
  • Aligning our curriculum with ACT college readiness standards

  • Embedding ACT content and skills in daily instruction in multiple subjects at all grade levels

  • Supporting our students with test preparation materials and strategies, including unlimited access to the online Method Test Prep program, a full-length practice ACT with same-day feedback for all juniors, and a series of after-school prep sessions developed and led by the Mathematics Department.
"The juniors' performance is something for all of us to celebrate because strong ACT scores expand their range of opportunities in the competitive college admission and scholarship selection process," added Principal Mr. Joseph A. Waler.

"As happy as we are with these initial scores, I expect even more good news ahead because our research indicates that many students achieve their highest ACT scores on their second official exam attempt. That means I'm looking for even greater success when the juniors take the ACT again in June," he explained.
