Yesterday NDCL hosted a visit from Peter Manyiel, one of the "Lost Boys of Sudan," as part of the school's ongoing efforts to promote the principles of Catholic social teaching.
During a presentation in the school chapel, Manyiel shared his gripping story of being violently separated from his parents during a raid on his village. He vividly recounted how as a six-year-old child he had the wade across a river strewn with dead bodies as he and other refugees fled to a camp in Ethiopia.
Manyiel is currently studying human resource management at Cuyahoga Community College. When he finishes his degree, he plans to return to Sudan to help women in their struggle for justice.
