Band Notes

June 9, 2021

Over the summer months, we will be planning half-time shows, writing drill, and arranging new tunes!  We are always looking for good song ideas, dance moves, and creative marching routines.  If you have an idea for a shorty, quarter tune, band dance, or just want to do something to help, please feel free to reach out to any of the marching band directors or drum majors!

Band activities will officially resume with drumline and color guard rehearsals on Tuesday, July 6. These rehearsals will take place at 8:30 a.m., and are required for drumline and color guard students.  The complete drumline and color guard schedule can be found in the latest band calendar.

This year we will be bringing back our traditional "Step-off" party to begin the season!  Students will report to the NDCL music room at 4:00 p.m. to meet band leaders and begin learning music for the season.  We will follow with informational meetings for parents and students at 6:00.  We will discuss band camp basics, our rehearsal procedure, and details about the upcoming season.  We will conclude with dinner for all band families!

Band camp will begin the following Monday, July 19.  We will run for two weeks from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, at NDCL. We're looking forward to a great band season!

Attention incoming freshman: do you want to join a good band that plays music you know and performs often?  Do you want to improve at your instrument quickly by working on interesting and challenging music?  Do you want to make new friends before the school year even starts? If yes, we want you in the NDCL Lion Marching Band!

The NDCL Lion Marching Band is a big step up from the average middle school band.  We perform every week in September and August, participate in the Cleveland St. Patrick's Day parade every year, and perform in Disney World every two years!  We also accept musicians of all skill levels, from those who have taken private lessons their whole lives to those who are interested in picking up an instrument for the first time.  If you are interested in joining the band or just want to know more, contact band director, Mr. Adam Pysell, at [email protected] and put "Marching Band" in the subject line.  We hope to hear from you soon!"
