Robotics team takes sixth in state tournament

SIXTH IN THE STATE: Celebrating their sixth-place finish in the state robotics competition are (standing) academic coach Mr. Tony Hodun, freshmen Eric Reed and Vittorio Antonick, senior Jacob Woodhouse, science teacher Mr. Nathan Smith, senior Brendan Welsh, freshman Andrew Chichernea, (kneeling) senior Kyle Hoffman, junior Allison Daher, mathematics/engineering teacher Mrs. Ashley Kelm, and sophomore Barry Markiewich.

In their first-ever trip to the state finals, NDCL's robotics team finished sixth in a field of 36 teams that made the cut for the championship tournament. This year a total of 106 teams in Ohio participated in the FIRST Tech Challenge robotics competition.

The team is already strategizing on improvements to their robot for next year.

"We did not advance to world competition this year, but we will one day," said robotics coach and mathematics/engineering teacher Mrs. Ashley Kelm. "We have so many big plans!"
