National Merit Program honors seven seniors

Justin Satterlee named National Merit Semi-Finalist

Based upon their outstanding performance on the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) last October, seniors Justin Satterlee, Emily Callahan, Spencer Jacobson, Elliott Martin, David Opppenlander, Mary Grace Raddell, and Sarah Uhran have earned recognition from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

Justin has been named a National Merit Semi-Finalist—a distinction earned by fewer than 1% of all of the high school seniors in the United States. There are approximately 600 semi-finalists out of about 144,000 high school seniors in the State of Ohio.

Justin will now compete for finalist status in the National Merit Program by submitting a comprehensive application documenting his academic achievements. Finalists are eligible for scholarships sponsored by the National Merit Program as well as by businesses and colleges throughout the country.

Emily, Spencer, Elliott, David, Mary Grace, and Sarah have all been named Commended Students. They scored among the scored among the top 3% of more than 1.6 million students nationwide who took the PSAT. While Commended Students do not continue in the National Merit scholarship process, their elite academic status positions them well for college admission and scholarships offered by individual universities.
