Advent giving brightens lives near and far
Our students are busy making blankets for the homeless and purchasing gifts for those who will benefit from the Giving Tree, our Advent project.

READY FOR AN ENCORE: This year our students
and staff hope to surpass the generosity of last
Advent's Giving Tree project shown here.
Their efforts will brighten Christmas for children at Metro Catholic School, St. Francis School, and The Blessing House—all ministries of our Sisters of Notre Dame.  In a wonderful surge of generosity, all 150 gift tags for the Giving Tree were taken by students and staff on the very first day they were available. Gifts need to be brought to school by Monday, December 11.

"When students turn in their gifts, they will help light up the cafeteria by adding bulbs to the festive string of lights on the Giving Tree," said Director of Campus Ministry Mrs. Beth Davis.

Mrs. Davis also explained that our students got a head start last month on their Christmas giving by putting together 100 Boxes of Joy that will distributed all over the globe by Cross Catholic Outreach.  Individuals and groups of students filled the shoebox-sized packages with toys as well as personal essentials. Junior Julia Baitt initiated the Box of Joy project at NDCL.

According to Mrs. Davis, many of the boxes are expected to reach Guatemala, where our students will serve as missionaries this summer in our Courts for Kids partnership.
