Based upon their outstanding performance on the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) last October, seniors Hailey Oppenlander, Gregory Owendoff, and Lillian Martin have earned national recognition from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

Hailey has been named a National Merit Semi-Finalist—a distinction earned by less than 1% of all high school seniors in the United States.

She will now compete for finalist status in the National Merit Program by submitting a comprehensive application documenting her academic achievements. Finalists are eligible for scholarships sponsored by the National Merit Program as well as by businesses and colleges throughout the country.

Gregory and Lillian have been named Commended Students. They scored among the top 3% of more than 1.6 million students nationwide who took the PSAT. While Commended Students do not continue in the National Merit scholarship process, their elite academic status positions them well for college admission and scholarships offered by individual universities.

"We are very proud of Hailey, Greg, and Lilli," commented Principal Mr. Joseph A. Waler. "Their rank among the very best students in the entire nation is a testimony to their hard work and to the quality of NDCL's academic program.
