On Wednesday and Friday of this week, our entire junior class fanned out to 14 sites across northeastern Ohio to provide direct service to persons in need as they experienced Catholic social teaching in action for the annual Junior Justice Retreat.
Among the sites visited were Maggie's Place, a home for mothers and babies in Garfield Heights; the Cleveland Catholic Diocese's Migration and Refugee Services Resettlement Center; and Malachi House, a home on Cleveland's West Side that provides no-cost hospice care to the terminally ill. Other service sites included Saint Francis School, Saint Adalbert School, and Metro Catholic School in Cleveland as well as the Geauga Senior Center in Chesterland and Rescue Village in Bainbridge.
On Saturday morning our Admissions Office sponsored the Third Annual Step Up to Serve Program, which engages eighth graders with current NDCL students for a morning of service . This year participants worked at Maggie's Place, Rescue Village, and Maplewood Senior Living in Chardon.
Campus ministers Miss Halle McKeon and Mr. Patrick Basista coordinated the Junior Justice Retreat, while Admissions Director Mr. Michael Suso and Assistant Admissions Director Mr. Quinn Malone led the Step Up to Serve Program.
