"Beat those Lions" is not a cheer normally heard in McGarry Gym—at least not from our own cheerleaders and fans.

But that's exactly what happened on Friday morning as the Lions hosted and cheered on the basketball team from Broadmoor, a Mentor school that serves students aged 0-22 with developmental delays and disabilities. The gym roared with laughter and love as the Bobcats—with a little help from the friendly Lions—defeated NDCL before the entire school community.

HIGH-FIVES FOR NEW PALS: Broadmoor's Jonathan Hewitt greets the Lions prior to Friday morning's game.

While the Lions and Bobcats have met in this fun and friendly competition for several years, this was the first time the game was played at NDCL. Dean of Students and Boys Varsity Basketball Coach Mr. Chris Poulos organized the game.

"We've always wanted to bring this game to our own gym," Mr. Poulos said. "I couldn't be more proud of how our students and the Broadmoor students connected and just had fun being with each other."

"It was special time with some very special people."
