College-credit courses to expand to 15 next year

Through Ohio's College Credit Plus (CCP) program, NDCL offers high-quality and challenging college-credit courses right here on our campus, providing our students with an incredible opportunity to begin their undergraduate degrees now while saving their parents thousands of dollars in university tuition.

Students and parents can learn more about NDCL's 15 on-campus college-credit courses as well as other dual-enrollment options during an informative Zoom presentation on February 3 at 6:30 PM. A registration link for this presentation will be texted to families during the week of January 25.

Beginning next fall, NDCL will offer a new college-level American History class that may be taken as early as the sophomore year. We strongly encourage freshmen who are considering this course for next year to join the February 3 meeting with their parents.

Assistant Principal Mrs. Denice Teeples and our school counselors will share important information about eligibility requirements and the skills needed to be successful in college-level classes.

College Credit Plus is a state-sponsored program that gives qualified secondary school students the opportunity to enroll in courses that carry both high school and college credit. In most cases, the college tuition is paid by the State of Ohio.

Even though NDCL offers CCP courses on our campus, families must still complete a separate application and funding request with the Ohio Department of Education in order to enroll.

"Each year some students and their families miss out on this money-saving educational opportunity because they fail to follow the state's very specific application process," stressed Mrs. Teeples, who coordinates NDCL's CCP program. "That's why I strongly urge interested students and their parents to participate in the information session on February 3."
