ESPN vice-president Dwayne Bray visits NDCL
Last week ESPN Vice-President Dwayne Bray visited NDCL to discuss his award-winning career in sports journalism with interested students during a special Lion Time gathering.
MEDIA MENTOR: ESPN Vice-President Mr. Dwayne Bray chats with sophomores Brady Ruffner, Seamus Welsh, and Daniel Noronha following his presentation on sports media careers last week.

Mr. Bray regaled students with stories of athletes and issues he has covered since starting at ESPN in 2006. Under his leadership, ESPN's enterprise unit won more than 50 national and international journalism honors, including two Peabody Awards, two Emmys for journalism, and four Edward R. Murrow Awards.

Mr. Bray stressed the importance of being prepared and ready to respond when opportunities present themselves, noting that he never imagined how his career would unfold when he started as a reporter for a community newspaper more than 30 years ago.

Varsity Boys Basketball Coach and substitute teacher Mr. Pat Vuyancih, who works with Mr. Bray at ESPN as a college-basketball color analyst, arranged his visit as a first step in our effort to launch the Lion Broadcast Network, which will eventually provide student-led media coverage for NDCL athletics and other activities.
