Seniors capture 2022 Spirit Week championship

Seniors capture 2022 Spirit Week championship
Neither the groundhog's prediction of six more weeks of winter nor a foot of snow dropped on Chardon by Winter Storm Landon prevented our Lions from celebrating an exciting Spirit Week complete with fun activities, friendly class competitions, delicious lunchtime treats, and even a virtual, high-energy pep rally.

This year's Spirit Week actually extended over two weeks because we had snow days on February 3 and 4. After the final tally of the extended competitions, the Class of 2022 won the coveted Spirit Week trophy.

EVERY PENNY COUNTS: Seniors Mark Petzing (left), Andrew Zitnik, Caden Linnert, and Max Cirino strategize to win the Spirit Week coin war.

The always-popular coin war between classes raised just over $3,000, far surpassing our $1,000 goal. Proceeds will be used to provide special experiences and enhance community life for our friends of the L'Arche home in Highland Heights.

L'Arche is a non-profit organization that sponsors homes where adults with and without intellectual disabilities share life and friendships in community. NDCL students and staff regularly visit with the Highland Heights L'Arche community members to socialize, share a meal, and pray together.

Special thanks to our dedicated and enthusiastic educators who worked tirelessly with our student leaders to organize a fun-filled, creative, and mission-driven Spirit Week: Student Activities Board lead adviser and social studies teacher Miss Lexie Danch '15, English teacher Mrs. Maura McGinty-O'Hara, Director of Campus Ministry Miss Halle McKeon, Director of Student Leadership Mr. Ben Lozar '09, and Assistant Admissions Director Mr. Pete DeMichele.
