Brendan Hyslop
Commended Student
Anna Pallante
Commended Student

Based upon their outstanding performance on the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) last October, seniors Thomas Carballada, Brendan Hyslop, and Anna Palante have earned national recognition from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

Tommy has been named a National Merit Semi-Finalist—a distinction earned by fewer than 1% of all of the high school seniors in the United States. There are only 661 Semi-Finalists out of more than 144,000 high school seniors in the State of Ohio.

Tommy will now compete for finalist status in the National Merit Program by submitting a comprehensive application documenting his academic achievements. Finalists are eligible for scholarships sponsored by the National Merit Program as well as by businesses and colleges throughout the country.

Brendan and Anna have been named Commended Students. They scored among the scored among the top 3% of more than 1.6 million students nationwide who took the PSAT. While Commended Students do not continue in the National Merit scholarship process, their elite academic status positions them well for college admission and scholarships offered by individual universities.

"The outstanding PSAT performance of Tommy, Brendan, and Anna is a credit to their commitment to academic excellence as well as a testimony to our teachers' efforts to prepare all of our students for college success," said Principal Mr. Joseph A. Waler. "We're all very proud of them."
